A properly planned deck helps to blur the lines between inside and outdoors. It can create the illusion that your house is really much larger than it is, but in order to do this it is important to create boundaries which are both clear and at the same time pleasing on the eye.
There are many different features you may wish to incorporate  within your outdoor living space and it is best to discuss these with your tradesman however you do need somewhere to start.

Balustrades can be used as a physical barrier between the deck and the yard without adversely affecting the view or air flow.

Bistro blinds can be great for keeping out the weather and keeping in the warmth.

Stairs can be used to direct traffic flow to where it is most appropriate and make the deck feel more enclosed.

Split levels are a good way of making guests aware of swimming pools and garden beds without restricting your space. Also they can be great built in seating.

Screens made from decking timber or other appropriate products can be a good way to improve the view in small properties. They direct the attention away from unsightly areas and can be used to section off utilities.

Planter boxes, feature walls and outdoor seating are all excellent ways of continuing a decking theme right out into the garden.
